Via NOOSA along "Northshore" beach

While there is usually no problem in taking this route, it is a good idea to check with Ranger that the rocks at Rainbow are passable at low tide as they are sometimes impassable after large storms. Go north from Noosa Sound to Tewantin. Just after Tewantin turn right to Ferry. Get the ferry across the Noosa River. Allow one hour for travel from Noosa River to Rainbow Beach.

On arrival at Rainbow Beach and before proceeding to Inskip Point where the barge departs, you will need to purchase permit from the Ranger's Office or online here. Office is open from 7am to 4pm, seven days a week, phone (0754) 86-3160. Allow one hour to get petrol, permit and for travel to Inskip Point barge. See Barge times and costs. Its best to arrive at Inskip about one hour before low tide. This will give you the easiest trip up the beach. Once you are on the island allow two hours to get to Orchid Beach .

BEFORE getting on beach to access barge lower tyre pressures to 15-20 psi

Ask the attendant if you can get around Hook Point or if you should take the inland road. Drive up the beach, take care at Eli Creek, go over Indian Head, and follow the National Park signs to Orchid Beach.
